Student Counselors

  • Brittany Rohrbach

Hi, I’m Brittany! I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Middle Georgia State University, and I’m currently working on my Master of Social Work at Albany State University. Some of my coursework has focused on human behavior in the social environment, social work practice with individuals and families, and mental health assessment and intervention. These classes have given me a strong foundation for understanding people’s experiences and how to support them in meaningful ways.

I’ve also worked with clients at Georgia Behavioral Services who were managing a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges. That experience helped me learn how to listen with care, build trust, and support people in finding tools that work for them.

I’m especially drawn to techniques that focus on building coping skills and personal strengths, such as cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches. I believe in creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel understood and empowered.

My passion is mental health, and my goal is to walk alongside clients as they discover their strengths, build resilience, and move toward healing.

  • Neshemah McCain

    Hi, I'm Neshemah McCain

I am currently pursuing a Master of Education in Counseling & Development with a specialization in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling at Lamar University. I hold a bachelor's degree in behavioral and social sciences from East–West University. This academic preparation has provided me with a solid foundation in clinical theory, ethical practice, and evidence-based care.

I have completed formal training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and have a strong interest in trauma-informed, recovery-oriented treatment. I am particularly drawn to integrative approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and family systems frameworks. I value collaboration with supervisors and treatment teams to ensure interventions are developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and within my scope of training.

I have experience working in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) serving individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. In this setting, I facilitated groups, supported clients in skill development, and practiced building therapeutic rapport grounded in unconditional positive regard, mindfulness, and strengths-based care. These experiences strengthened my ability to work within structured treatment environments while remaining attuned to individual client needs.

As a counselor trainee, I approach my work with curiosity, humility, and a strong commitment to ethical standards, cultural humility, and ongoing professional growth. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic space and welcome supervision and feedback as essential components of my development. I am honored to be considered for a practicum/internship placement and look forward to contributing to the clinical team while continuing to grow as a developing clinician.
