Why are we raising money?
Usawa Wellness has babies and parents on the brain! Over the years we have recognized a growing need for accessible baby items and mental health support in our parenting and birthing community. With Usawa meaning harmony and balance in Swahili, we believe in nurturing the entire being, to include even the tiniest ones. Usawa Wellness is raising money to increase awareness for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), and to provide basic baby necessities to new parents, no matter their journey to parenthood, in addition to providing those same parents with nurturing gifts and care packages of their own.

How your donations will be used:
No matter the amount, your donations will provide a lasting impact for parents and babies in San Antonio and the surrounding communities. Your monetary donation will enable Usawa Wellness to mobilize community support by purchasing essential baby items, including diapers, wipes, burp cloths, blankets, onesies, grooming/hygiene products, bottles, formula and/or breastfeeding supplies, books, and more. Additionally, funds will be used to purchase items for new parents, including comfortable clothing items, grooming/hygiene items, feeding accessories, snacks, water bottles, books related to parenting and mental health, and self-care items. Below are a few examples of what your donations can provide.
$5.00 = 168 baby wipes, 4 oz of diaper cream, 14 oz baby shampoo, baby lotion, 1 baby grooming kit (nail clippers, bulb syringe, comb, and brush), OR 36 granola bars
$10.00 = 31 + Newborn diapers, 32 + Size 1 diapers, 20 oz + baby shampoo, 4 pack of receiving blankets, 5 pack of onesies, 100 + breastmilk storage bags, 3 pack 4 oz baby bottles, OR 1 peri bottle
$15.00 = 3 pack 8 oz baby bottles, 12 oz powdered formula, 5 pack of cozy socks for adults, 22 oz stainless steel water bottle w/straw, 1 humorous book supporting parental mental health, OR 1 silicone breastmilk collector
Though we will accept donations year-round, our goal is to raise at least $500.00 in the month of April to provide ‘Dottie’s Deliveries’ to parents and newborns throughout the month of May, in honor of Maternal Mental Health Month and Mother’s Day.
